The Nigerian artists Omah Lay and Tems were finally released from prison after their arrest in Uganda.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Tems and Omah Lay were arrested on Sunday after a performance on Saturday night at Big Brunch, a concert at the Speke Resort in Kampala. The music was taken into custody on Monday for violating COVID-19 rules in the country.
Omah Lay was remanded in Kitalya Prison and Ms. Tems in Kigo Prison.
After massive demands for immediate release by fans and most music enthusiasts around the world, the two are now free in the country.
Photos have surfaced online showing Nigerian music acts in the Nigeria High Commission in Uganda.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Omah Lay and Tems, chairmen of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission, today announced the news of their release. According to Abike, they are free and are currently in the office of the Nigerian High Commission in Uganda.
