The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the names of people seeking to hold leadership positions in the eighth parliament, following a meeting of the Council of Elders on Monday.

The party has elected Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye as speaker of the 8th parliament, according to general secretary John Boadu.
Also, Rev. Kyei Mensah Bonsu is maintained as the majority leader and his deputy will be Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin.

MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, ag. Frank Annoh-Dompreh will be the chief whip of the majority. He will have two deputies.
MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, ag. Lydia Seyram Alhassan and MP for Tolon, ag. Habib Iddrisu
The 7th parliament under the 4th Republic is expected to be dissolved in two days.
