Popular American singer Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 hours before her Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole.
The Verzuz Battle is an American webcast series created by producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz.
The series invites two music icons, mainly R&B and hip-hop, to present their discographies in two three-hour sessions in two rounds with 10 songs.
Ashanti and Keyshia Cole faced each other Saturday night before she broke the news.
Ashanti said she felt fine despite testing positive for COVID-19, and said she would try to live her side of the event from home billboard.com Reports.
Ashanti wrote in a note on Instagram shortly after 6 p.m. ET, “Hey, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve tested positive for COVID-19. I’m fine and in no pain. I’m actually downstairs to do the Verzuz from my house … we’re trying to find out everything !!! ”
The duel was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on the Verzuz and Apple Music Instagram page.
