Orisabunmi’s brother dies 48 hours after actress

Steve Onishola, older brother of the late actress Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi, and the technical director of the Kwara Falcons Basketball Club of Ilorin, died barely two days after his sister.

He was 71 years old and passed away on Thursday, January 7th.

Chairman, Kwara State Basketball Association, Joseph Adeyemo confirmed the death in a statement quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria.

‘We are very sad about this unfortunate incident; in fact, we can not find the right word to use.

“Coach Steve was the symbol of basketball in Kwara. He was one of the most brilliant coaches of the match in Nigeria.

“The whole basketball family expresses their sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the late coach,” said Adeyemo.

Onishola was on several occasions manager of Falcons before he was appointed technical director.

He was part of the Falcons’ team that secured the promotion in the elite division in 2013.

The deceased was also a member of the silver award winning team in the 2018 edition of the Kwese Premier League.

He was a member of the board of Kwara Basketball Association before his death.

His death was a shock just like that of his younger sister Orisabunmi which took place on Tuesday 5 January.

President of the Association of Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, or Mr. Latin, announced in a statement on Wednesday Orisabunmi’s death.

“It is so sad that we lost a precious gem, a very rare gem in the Nigerian film industry, Chief Mrs Folakemi Aremu, or Orisabunmi, last night in the cold hands of death,” he said. Latin said.

According to the actor, Orisabunmi left a legacy of positive experience for all who took the time to get to know her.

“Although good people die every day, not all of us affirm the goodness of humanity as Orisabunmi did,” he said in a statement. Latin added.
